The gas furnace in my 1500ft^2 house is 75,000BTU/hr (22Kw)
and probably runs more than a third of the time during a typical
Ohio winter (same at Purdue, so IU can't be much different).
Instead of replacing the furnace, maybe put the VAX 8650 in the
return plenum and use it as a pre-heater with the main blower
running continuously.

What about these new fuel cells that you hear about once
in a while? They run on natural gas I think.
