If you open the door on the lower right of the front of the machine,
you'll see switch S3.  Put that in the up position for a serial
console.  No need to pull the framebuffer.

Yes, I think you could get a mounting kit to put a CD-ROM there.  I've
never personally seen one with anything installed there though.

I don't think 1.5.1 is out yet.  But you could use 1.5.1_BETA2 and
then a later upgrate to 1.5.1 would be painless.

It's a nice machine...the fastest VAX I own...
