OK, at the mooU surplus diving pit feeding frenzy, today, I found
a 10 buckerrooo de realme TZ30 sitting in a storage expansion case.
I paid too much for it, and should have waited till next week where
it probably would have been five bucks, but... VAXenfixes and all.
Mebbie this will cure some of my TK50 transport ills (I hope so) and
give me my weekly VAXenfix....(:+}}....

My thoughts were to set up an MV3100 (the one in the dual high chassis
where you can stick 3 3.5 inch devices up top and a pair of 5.25 inch
devices underneath. Throw in 3 x 1 gig HD's for good measure and it
ought to run Ultrix or a BSD quite fine..... albeit slow as molasses.
If I set up Ultrix on one drive and NetBSD on the others, then that
should give me access to cd/tape/netboot/ftp-archives/etc, all from
that one box. I can't think of anything better to do with that slow
a box, anyway.

Is there anything odd about the target ID setups that I should be aware
of in using both a cd (RRD42) and a tape (TZ30)? I am expecting to put
the cd on id=4 and the tape on id=5, and run with it. Any problems
with that? That would leave the external bus open for other things.

I hope the TZ30 has stronger motors than the TK50..... to get around
my tape stiction problems....(:+{{...

Anyone have any manuals or other info on the TZ30 that I should be
aware of, or pointeres thereto?

Thanks

Bob
