I'm pretty new here, having bought my first and only VAX about a month
ago.

It's a modest VAXStation 4000/60 with 104 megs of ram (when the package
with 64 megs comes from my eBay auction) and a single 4 gig SCSI drive for
the moment. It's running NetBSD 1.5-release, which is current as of this
morning (but the make build won't be done until Friday or Saturday, I'm
guessing).

I've never had or used VAX before, but I have read so many interesting
things about VAX that I knew I had to get one. However, I live in New York
City, so I can't really get a cabinet-sized VAX - even if I had the space,
I doubt the electrical would handle it.

So this VAX will run secondary DNS, backup email, and some static web
sites for my small hosting company, sixgirls.org. The primary server is an
Amiga 4000/68060 running NetBSD, so not just any machine would do for
backup - it had to be something interesting.

Needless to say, I love the machine - the huge ceramic chips with the gold
leads are what one might expect to see in an impressive computer. It's
also much faster than I expected - speedwise, it's fairly in the middle
between a 40 MHz 68040 and a 50 MHz 68060.

Maybe I'll get a 4000/90 one day...
