More cases: instbin.mk uses plain make:

           ^MRun "make -f instbin.mk objs exe" to build crunched binary.
	   /home/rhialto/destdir.vax/usr/bin/make -f instbin.mk all
	   (cd /home/rhialto/src/distrib/miniroot/../../distrib/utils/sysinst/arch/vax; make menu_defs.o msg_defs.o main.o install.o upgrade.o txtwalk.o run.o factor.o net.o disks.o disks_lfs.o util.o geom.o label.o target.o md.o)

... more calls to make instead of (in my case)
/home/rhialto/destdir.vax/usr/bin/make.

I have not figured out where this instbin.mk is created, or run... this
release building is tricky...
