My RJ45/MMJ crimper was $25 and a bag of 50 MMJ connectors was under $10.

Its not that bad of a deal and you'll never know when you need a
longer/shorter cable.

Granted, for $25 you're not getting a great crimper, but it works and is
sufficient for low volume jobs.
