it's been a while since i've used screen, but doesn't it allow you to 
disconnect without stopping your sessions and then reconnect later?  i seem to
remember doing that.  great for long running interactive session.  if you have
to move to a new location, disconnect, move, reconnect, nothing impacted.

hmmm, i gotta start using screen again, maybe i should make it my default
shell. :)
