ok, this is my last non-NetBSD question, i promise (fingers crossed)

so, i telnet in to the box.  run EDIT, and it just doesn't work well when i
scroll off the bottom of the page.  doesn't move what's already there, just
changes the last line (but not overwriting stuff completley, i'm sure you've
all seen it before, it's pretty common with misconfigured terminal types)

anyway, rxvt, terminal type xterm (tried vt100, made no difference) and so
what do i do to get my terminal working right?
