G'day VAX porters,

You might find this a little hard to believe, but I have a commercial
reason for working with the VAX port :-)

I have been looking at the Intel Linux port of the VAX emulator at
http://www.softresint.com in Switzerland. It appears to be good enough to
run a full version of VMS, with peripherals! I'm trying it out now. I find
it somewhat astonishing that a commercial emulator has been released in
2000 (and a companion one for the PDP series!!).

I am interested to know whether you have been doing any of your porting
work with the hobbyist version of this emulator, which comes as a Windows
or Linux binary. It might well make things a lot easier, not to mention
faster. In particular I want to work out how to netboot the thing, if at
all possible. I suspect it might not be with the hobbyist version but I
don't know yet.

Regards,
