Well I got my MicroVAX 3100 m10e all set up, enabled a handful of daemons,
and noticed that 4M RAM is really not enough to do anything contructive
with this machine at all. After over 8 hours (I left it overnight), I
decided to give up on waiting for it to boot. It'd got up to starting
nfsd. It really hits swap hard (there's plenty of it).

However, after a certain point, it ceases to hit swap hard, and the
machine just seems to crawl, hitting the swap drive less and less as
time goes on (and memory is used), until the machine is practically
stopped. I shudder to think about what this would be like on a slower
machine.

Bye for now,

       Matt
