IIRC it's similar in function to a SCSI bus terminator - basically it
"absorbs" signals, so they don't reflect back down the bus.  Ususally it's
a simple array of resistors which matches impediances.

I don't think the theory is different for DSSI terminators, but the
pins/exact method surely is.
