I managed to build a netbootable ramdisk kernel by hand, some weird thing 
having to do with the fact that the /usr/src/dist tree didn't get the obj 
links established in all directories.

Anyway, I'm not sure its complete but should be able to try it Friday 
evening. Not a lot has changed in vax land since alpha1 so its pretty much 
the same system. I don't know if its possible to boot this from a tape or 
not, I'll try copying it out and trying it out.
