Set the boot flags to 0x0. ("set bflg 0" ???)
Possibly the boot stuff of 1.4.2 is to old. There is much better SCSI
support in -current. I recommend to use a -curent snapshot. Look at
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/vax/snapshot/20000517/
