OK, so I am exactly clear as the ol' Mississippi mud, .....(:+}}...

What exactly is in the cdimage.iso and cdimage.fs files in the archives?

I am not clear on what bits are actually needed to install the snapshot,
and what are not needed.

Am I correct in assuming the cdimage.iso, when written to a cd has
everything needed to do the basic VAX install, and will boot/install
the usual VAXstation and MicroVAX 3100 class thingies?
