Did you load up mine or a vanilla one? There is a patch from Ragge in mine 
that fixes a small bug in the if_le_vsbus.c file for detecting ethernet. 
I've tested it (and am currently running it!) on my VS3100/M76 where it 
does indeed detect and configure the lance ethernet.

What build signature does the kernel spit out when it boots? is it 
root@home.hq.mcmanis.com ?
