I put a 2G Seagate disk in a VAXstation 3100/m38:

NetBSD 1.4T (XZAN) #3: Sat Feb 26 21:51:23 CET 2000
    rhialto@xzan.falu.nl:/vol1/rhialto/sup/root/src/sys/arch/vax/compile/XZAN

VAXstation /m{38,48}
cpu: KA41/42
cpu: Enabling primary cache, secondary cache
total memory = 32640 KB
avail memory = 27536 KB
...
sd0 at scsibus1 targ 0 lun 0: <SEAGATE, ST52160N, 0344> SCSI2 0/direct fixed
sd0: 2069 MB, 6536 cyl, 4 head, 162 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 4238282 sectors

I never did anything special to this drive before connecting it, apart
from trying to install onto it in another MV 3100 that has a few disks
and runs Ultrix. So far it works great.
