On Unibus, the controller is an RL11. On Qbus, it's either (I think) an
RLV11 (two-board option that requires a CD backplane) or RLV12 (single
board option that doesn't). The RL01 uses a 5-meg removable cartridge,
the
RL02 uses a 10 meg one. 4.3BSD supports the RL02, but not the RL01
(though
adding support for the RL01 would be a pretty easy job, if anybody was
determined enough to make it work). The RL11, at least, is very
sensitive
to other devices doing large amounts of DMA, as it has only a very small
internal buffer. I had to reduce the DMA burst on my UDA devices to get
it
to share a bus with them successfully. The RLV12, I seem to remember,
has
a full sector-worth of buffer, so shouldn't be so tricky to deal with.
