Yes,

I just recently installed OpenVMS 7.2 and VMS 6.1 on a VS3100 M48,
and I've got the newer version on the RZ57, and the older on the 
RZ56.  No problem with VMS.  Haven't tried NetBSD on that disk 
yet, but it boots on an internally mounted RZ25.

As I mentioned on an earlier post, I have a pile of these guys,
so I'd be interested to give it a try.
