yow, that's slow!!
With local disks (RD54's for example) it should maybe take 6-8 hours,
if you have a lot of memory, im speaking from an example with 13 MB.

true. I've never done it with anything but local disks, so with NFS it
might take this long.

if you have a sparc handy, you will be able to use anders hogrelius'
cross-compiler and save yourself a lot of time.
gcc is _Really_ slow, true, but i would think it would be less than a day!
how much memory do you have?
