I "coerced" the MOP server into using MOPBOOT.SYS as the image file.  It
got mopd to believe that it had successfully load from that file. Still
the MicroVAX-I doesn't find our current bootloader palatable ala MOP. :-/
I'm not sure if things just got mangled over MOP or if there are real
incompatibilities.  Guess I'll have to try a copy loaded from TK50.
