port-vax: uVAX II Disks

I got the netbsd.ram.gz (1.4) to boot on my uVAX II.  I picked 'Install to
hard disk.' But disklabel never seemed to be able to write to the disk. Am
I incompentent?  Is VMS 4.2 tenacious in its hold on life?  Is this a
known problem?
