Good suggestion; didn't fix anything.....  I even  tried specifying the
other boot  block files (hpboot, raboot, xxboot) with no change...
Speaking of which, are the 3 boot blocks supposed to show up as
identical when run through cmp??

If not, I may have fallen victim to a bit gremlin somewhere.....
