So, for background information, the disk is a RD54 with no bad blocks
on it. I did disklabel /dev/ra0 and got the following:

# disklabel /dev/ra0
ra0: size 312375 sectors
# /dev/ra0c:
type: unknown
disk: myvax
label:
flags:
bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 17
tracks/cylinder: 15
sectors/cylinder: 255
cylinders: 1225
total sectors: 312375
rpm: 3600
interleave: 1
trackskew: 0
cylinderskew: 0
headswitch: 0 # milliseconds
track-to-track seek: 0 # milliseconds
drivedata: 0

8 partitions:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
  a: 32768 0 4.2BSD 1024 8192 16 # (Cyl. 0 - 128*)
  b: 65536 32768 swap # (Cyl. 128*- 385*)
  c: 312375 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl. 0 - 1224)
  e: 214071 98304 4.2BSD 1024 8192 0 # (Cyl. 385*- 1224)

This should be correct. I'm using 'e' partition only because it
happened to be /usr on the earlier installed NetBSD (1.2 something
iirc) and the sizes were correct already. I might try to repartition
the whole thing and then retry installing. But, if anyone happens to
have a recent ld.so binary somewhere, I'd like to have it mailed to my
personal address, preferably uuencoded.
