VAXen has a hardware-specified kernel area of 1GB but can only handle
512MB of physical memory, so that won't be a problem. (Unless it's one
of the new type of VAXen with 3.5GB of memory, but I have no idea about
how those machines work at all, so for now I don't care :-)
