Forget the "knowledge" and call it database ;-))
But it would be great, having something like that.

An idea would be to glue the information to the board numbers and revisions.
So if you hold a board in your hand, you could look up, what's in the
database or not. So it would be easy to add the additional
boards/cables/adapters.
 (you know the part number for the vcb02 cable to the monitor ?)
(or the partnumber for the disk caddies in a VS4000/60 ?)
