Hi all!
After reading that many FAQs a 100 times and doing all which is recommended,
I am still not able to get my VT420 run as a console of my VAXstation3100:
0) The VAXstation3100 is ok and runs an RGB-console without problems.
1) I prepared a cable MMJ to sub25 as described in
http://anacin.nsc.vcu.edu/~jim/mvax/pinouts.html

the numbering is from left to right looking into the socket

2) After cutting the nose of the (telephone) plug, the plug fits
and _has_ contact. (Thanks to Tom Wutzke!)
3) The connecton is made with the PRINTER port!
4) The jumper between terminal socket and LEDs is UP.
5) The sub25 is connected to comm1 of the VT420
6) Comm1 is set to DEC-423 interface _not_ RS-232
http://anacin.nsc.vcu.edu/~jim/mvax/mvax_faq_text.html
7) The communications are set to 9600,7E1 ...
NOTHING ... needless to say that I tested many variations without
success ... so I am quite disappointed and have to ask you now about
ideas what is going wrong. May be we get a detailed step by step
protocol that can be added to the FAQs.
Thanks in advance.
Greetings
Anton
