Ok... here's the latest. I'm cc'ing it to Ragge as well, since I think there may be something wrong with the 1.3.2 image where KA650's are concerned.

To (briefly) recap: I had downloaded the files tk50-file1-132 and tk50-file2-132 (boot and miniroot respectively, I'm assuming) from the NetBSD FTP site. I had initially stored these files on my NT server (forgive me) on an NTFS partition so that the long filenames would be preserved.

Using my 486/66 Linux box with Samba installed, I transferred the files to it, hooked up a SCSI TK50 drive (a TK50Z-FA), and proceeded to use dd to write the two required tapes.

I then attempted to boot my MicroVAX III (KA650) with the first tape. I should note that said MicroVAX was originally a II/GPX with the VCB02 Graphics Option and big-screen color monitor installed. I merely replaced the CPU and the two associated memory boards.

Although the boot appeared to go OK, the machine (apparently) froze shortly after it recognized that there was a bootable tape in the drive. The 'Run' light remained on, but the whole thing simply stood still.

My next step was to try booting the same tape on a different machine; a MicroVAX II (KA630). It booted, and got to a NetBSD prompt, but kept going:

/netbsd

Not a directory

:

	...over and over again.

At this point, I'm baffled. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year to the lot of you.
