I think my controller or maybe drive is broken. I stick a TK50 in, press
the button to load the tape, it just flashes. However, eventually it will
start to try to tension the tape, and it eventually just pulls the tape
all the way to the take up reel. In fact, I had one tape get totall
ripped out of the cartridge when it happened.
How can I force the TK50 to rewind? The button doesn't work, and mt
doesn't work.

A novice was trying to fix a broken Lisp machine by turning the power
off and on. Knight, seeing what the student was doing spoke sternly:
"You can not fix a machine by just power-cycling it with no
understanding of what is going wrong." Knight turned the machine off
and on. The machine worked.
