Hmm..

i got my MVII with 9 meg ram and dhv11 to talk to /dev/ttyS0 using kermit
without problems

one note though: you cant have the line enabled in /etc/ttys, and then try
to access it from other programs..

i still have not managed to get login banners on the
proven-to-be working-hardware ports though....
