Hi All:

I'm trying to install the VAX port version 1.3.2 on my Microvax II. I've
had several earlier versions of NetBSD on it, so I have experience with
the boot/root procedure, the TK50 install, etc.

I created two tapes under VMS, block size 512, and copied tk50-file1-132
and tk50-file2-132 to them, one file per tape.

I boot from the first tape, do my edlabel, do my copy from tape 2 to write
the miniroot onto the b partition, all goes well.

I then halt and reboot the machine.

When I boot from tape 1 again using B/3 MUA0, here's what happens:

KA630-A.V1.3

Performing normal system tests.

  7..6..5..4..3..

Tests completed.

>>> b/3 mua0

  2..1..0..

howto 0x3, bdev 0x12, booting...done. (31448+22260)

>> NetBSD/vax boot [980530 13:32] <<
: ra(0,1)netbsd
Bad format

>> NetBSD/vax boot [980530 13:32] <<
: ra(0,1)gennetbsd
No such file or directory
: ra(0,1)
|
?05 DBL ERR.
    PC = AA9F57E0
>>>

Note that I tried ra(0,1), ra(0,1)netbsd, and ra(0,1)gennetbsd. No luck

I re-wrote the second tape (again with block size=512) just in case but
there's no difference. I think that the tapes were created fine because
the first tape works fine for boot, copy, and edlabel.

The machine is fully functional, the HD is good, passes format/verify,
it's on a QD21 which has worked with previous version of NetBSD/Vax for
years. It has 13 MB of RAM.

Suggestions please!!

Thanks in advance,

Kevin
