Ooops. Sorry, I just assumed people knew what happened on a "large" VAX
when you hit ^P. You do get the ">>>" prompt, but the machine don't halt.
To halt the machine, you have to give the HALT command. :-)
You can also disable ^P from getting you to the front end, of course...
The 86x0 is very nice. You can look at system temperatures, supply 
voltages, ground current and other stuff while the machine is running, by
talking to the front end. I don't exactly know what you can do on other
"large" VAXen.

By this definition, I think the following machines would qualify:

11/78x, 86x0, 85x0, 87x0, 88x0, 9000, 10000.
