Everybody else, is that me? :-) I started out with a cross-compiling 
environment from 4.3BSD. But for you, the easiest way would be to
tweak gcc/gas/ld/ar/ranlib from the NetBSD source tree and compile
that under Linux (suppose you have an intel). I once did this under
NetBSD/i386 and it was almost no problem.
