I have attempted to install what I believe to be the latest version of =
NetBSD (1.3) on a VAXStation 2000 that is setup to believe it is a =
MV2000 (the motherboard jumper moved). It seems to be working fine =
because I get no diagnostic messages in CCL mode at startup.
=20
The VAX has two RD53s, a 1.33Mb 5 1/4" floppy, a TK50 tape drive, and =
14Mb of memory. Pretty much maxed out. I'm using a terminal connected =
to the console port with the necessary pin "8-9" jumper and it does work =
otherwise I wouldn't be able to see diagnostics or do the following.
=20
I am able to boot a VMS standalone backup utility from tape should I =
desire to install VMS. (I don't) I can boot the same backup utility from =
floppy.=20
=20
So, with the above in mind, I have not been able to get a good copy of =
the boot and miniroot files for TK50 or floppy for V1.3 from =
ftp.netbsd.org under the VAX installation file area. I have, however, =
succeeded in getting V1.2G from the arch area. This does me no good. =
It seems to only want to setup scsi drives or something. I setup my =
other VAX, a 3100 running VMS V5.5-2, to attempt a mopboot of V1.3 and =
was able to bring up the VS2000 to a Nboot(?) prompt using the mopboot =
image from the VAX net installation area. However, my VAX doesn't do =
NFS RARP, so I'm shot down there.
=20
I attempted to use V1.2 TK50 files but to no avail. I'm relatively sure =
I'm creating the tapes correctly because I'm able to get V1.2G to come =
up (I've erased them and used V1.2G on the same tape I tried to use with =
V1.3)
=20
I don't have another u*ix machine I can use to create tapes or otherwise =
mess with for this project.

I have been working on this for a couple of weeks; I'm getting =
frustrated!
=20
What gives?
