< Oh, you mean the density select jumper! I have never heard anyone cal
<it the write current jumper, so I've got confused. (But it does control t
<write current...) The density (the write magnetic field intensity H) is

My docs call it write current select as the spindle speed is different
jumper and the two interact to do density select. Density does not
change with different write current but the two different 5.25 medias
(RX50 and RX33) require different write currents required by the
different media coercivity and thickness. Density is how closed the
bits are packed and that is affected by rotation speed(drive) and data
rate(controller).

<I have always wondered what is a VAXmate. Would you please enlighten m

It's a 286/8mhz 2mb ram with lance for eithernet and one rx33 if
configured as PCSA(later called PATHWORKS) client to a VAX PCSA server
or standalone with a bottom box with a wd1003 and a rd31 or 32 hard disk.
The crt, cpu floppy were one unit with a vt3xx terminal series look. It
used LK250 keyboard.

Not very popular outside of DEC VAX/VMS users.

< Hmm, I have pulled 3 RX33s out of VS2000s, and all of them look
<identical. The jumpers perfectly match the description from TEAC. You wer
<probably more lucky. :-)

I was earlier on and had access to Vaxmates, vs2ks and ... so I got to
see all versions. Like I said, one literally has teac FD55gfv sample on
it. When they were done it was scrap/salvage or I would grab it.
