Couldn't the PROM be mirrored somehow to get around this (just an idea,
I'm too dumb to impliment)?

(I'd LOVE To use the 19" monitor that came with this thing rather than
this 9" VT320...)

Does X have any support the mono framebuffer on a 3100m30 yet?
