Subject: Using built-in DSSI interface on uVax 3400

Hello,

I recently acquired a MicroVax 3400, on which I'd like to run NetBSD.
The system came with 2 RF72's and a RF71, so I have lots of physical disk
space. Unfortunately, it's using the built-in DSSI interface which appears
to
be currently unsupported by NetBSD.

Instead of caving in and buying a KQFSA adapter, I'd like to take a
crack
at implementing a driver for the built-in controller. The biggest problem
that
appears to exist is a lack of documentation. The KA640 technical manual has
 a
section on dealing with the SII chip and creating packets in the interface
buffer, but doesn't deal with the contents of the packets themselves. The
pmax
port of NetBSD contains an SII driver, but it's configured for SCSI use,
not
MSCP that the 3400 uses.

Would somebody be able to provide me with additional information about
the interface, or at least point me towards a source of additional
information.

Thanks in advance,

John W. Rogers
