Heh, the least painful at this stage would probably be to wait for
a snapshot of 1.3_ALPHA to be made available (it would probably be
quickest and cause the least amount of grief as well).  If I'm not
much mistaken our beloved portmaster is already hard at work
producing such a binary snapshot, at least I vaguely remember
seeing some mumbling about that earlier.
