I see the following problem with what you typed:
the ":"

I do this:
disklabel -B ra0
or 
dislabel -B rd54b ra0
where my ra* is the target disk, and in the second is the
type of disklabel (so I get boot blocks and my own label, rd54 bob style 
or rd54b!)
