That is one reason in my instructions for making NetBSD boot tapes under
NetBSD I included the "/ERASE" qualifier to the "INITIALIZE" command to
completely erase the contents of the tape and make sure things are laid
down properly.

I noticed in the FAQ that after my instructions their is a little bit by 
someone else stating that you don't have to use the "/ERASE" as it takes a 
LONG LONG time.  But I always use the "/ERASE" because I have alot of older 
tapes with various formats on them and I want ot make sure everything is 
copied correctly.
