Please educate me on this.  I was aware of running parallel make, but I'm
at a loss with your reference to adding an rmt module to make.  The only
thing I can find that seems close would be the librmt stuff which allows
for remote access to tape devices.  

Can you offer further discussion on how one would go about doing this (or
you can just point me to some resources on it if you know of any).
