All VS2000s have the SCSI hardware. The only thing the expansion box
gives you is a cable with a connector to the outside world. If you can keep
the whole thing in the box (say, by using a boot floppy (you'll have to
boot from something the ROM knows how to boot from, unless you want to
write a new ROM) and a 3.5" SCSI hard disk), you wouldn't need the
expansion box.
