Seasons Greetings Everyone,

I have a DEC VAXstation 3100 M76 SPX unit. I had tested the
unit on a ROM monitor level and it checks OK except for the test
wich yields a 'FAIL 84' message. There was an OS on the unit, but
I was stupid in wiping out the SCSI HDD's to use in a 386 over a
year ago, not knowing what I have :P (I have learned thanks to
the kind folk on the Net). At present, I have no documentation on
how to set up or maintain it. I would like to set this up in with
the OEM file system, however, I am eyeing X over Linux/NetBSD to
use its graphics capabilities (image editing) and UNIX-adept
architecture. I have three 80x86 machines with WFW 3.11 and I
have been told to run Samba on the VAXstation to establish
connectivity between it and the Intel boxes. I would like to
eventually break free from MS-DOS as the kernels on the Intel's
and use either Linux or NetBSD on all the machines and use WINE
on the Intels and an X type GUI on the VAX, retaining enough DOS
compatibility to not make me trash whatever DOS infrastructure
that may remain. All machines will be connected through BNC
ethernet and a fourth 80x86 box will be added as a gateway to my
ISP. My primary concern is generating a boot floppy for the VAX
to at least get it to a shell leve, loading an OS onto it, and
obtaining documentation necessary to maintain it. If anyone could
make me copies and e-mail it to me I would greatly appreciate it
because I am in a financial bind at this time. :b

Thanks a 1.0E+6 EVRY1
