I have noticed that TK50 problem, the guy who fixed the uVAX support
said he would look at it in a couple of weeks.

mt xinu for VAX (at least the version I had) is almost plain 4.3BSD
with some things added (nfs, yp, ...). There may be incompatibles 
with system call from that, but the kernel shouldn't crash.
What panic do you get? Maybe you could send me an ls binary so 
I can check what's wrong.
