   1.4 has a crashing problem on the 3/80 wherein the kernel runs out
of memory internally and panics. IIRC this was fixed in something called
1.4P (?), but it's definitely present in the standard 1.4 release.
Does anybody know whether the fix was rolled into 1.4.2?
