Hi,

I am trying to get my 3/50 to act as a ppp server, so I have hooked up a
modem
to serial port b, but I can't seem to talk to it. I have done the following
steps:

1) Hooked up the modem with a straight through cable.
2) Edited to the ttys file to include

ttyb "/usr/libexec/getty std.38400" dialup on

3) Performed a kill -HUP 1.

The lights on the modem look right, but when I try to use tip to talk to it,
I get the message:

/dev/ttyb: Permission denied
link dead

This happens even when I run as root.
I have tried adding the rtscts flag to the ttys file but that hasn't worked
either.

Any ideas? Do I need a different cable? Do I need to create a
pseudo-device?

Thanks
