This is fixed with PROM revision 3.0.3!!!
I found this astonishing fact by experimenting with
some Sun3/80.

Machines with PROM revision 3.0.2 can be upgraded to
3.0.3 by changing the EPROM (27C512). Older Sun3/80
may need some wires (Hardware revision <12rev50),
before 3.0.3 can be used. This is true for most 3/80
(or all???) with PROM revision 3.0 and 2.9.2.

Happy experimenting!
