I have recently come into ownership of a Sun 3/50 that was to be thrown
out. Not to let a perfectly good machine go to waste, I set upon installing
NetBSD on it.
Well, things are up and running now, and I would like to dial into my ppp
account and get some more software for the beast, but I'm having problems
dialing the damn thing in.
I've read the pppd & chat man pages, and the *BSD FAQ regarding ppp, and
still can't get it to work.
Here's my /etc/ppp/options (culled from various net resources):
/dev/ttya
19200
connect 'chat -e -v -f /etc/ppp/chat.script'
crtscts
defaultroute
lock
netmask 255.255.255.0
0.0.0.0:0.0.0.0
-ip
modem
mtu 1500
-detach
Now, the only part I'm really fuzzy about here is the /dev/ttya part. Do I
need to have something special in /etc/ttys? I replaced the getty call with
'default', and now pppd won't spawn getty and will at least reset the
modem, but can't get any farther than that "Connect script failed".
Here's my chat script (again, following the lead of on-line references)
ABORT BUSY
ABORT ERROR
ABORT 'NO DIALTONE'
ABORT 'NO CARRIER'
'' ATZ OK ATDT2654321 CONNECT \d
TIMEOUT 5
sername:\s--sername:\sdbongert ssword: PASSWORD \s ppp
Would someone with more experience than me gently clue me in? Thanks.
