Well, I have been running NetBSD 1.2 for some time, but hadn't
had occasion to write a tape in some time, but now I get this
with an Archive Scorpion drive with an Emulex MT02 controller.
(The usual 60M capacity tape in a sun3 system).

I saw one mention of this in the list, some time ago that
mentioned patches, but wonder -- I cannot be the only person
that wants to write tapes under NetBSD 1.2 -- what is this
all about and what should I do if I want to get my tape drive
on line?
