I have a Sun 3/60 with 12 megs of memory, CG4 and no bwtw0, and
NetBSD 1.1. The hard disk is a Quantum TRB850S FAST SCSI-2.

During the nightly 2:00 AM fsck checks, etc., I get errors of this sort:

Sep 11 02:00:14 warthog /netbsd: ncr5380_command: short transfer: wanted 10 got
6.
Sep 11 02:00:14 warthog /netbsd: si(0:0:0)-2a,0,0,0,21,fa,0,0,2,0-
Sep 11 02:00:15 warthog /netbsd: ncr5380_command: short transfer: wanted 10 got
4.
Sep 11 02:00:15 warthog /netbsd: si(0:0:0)-2a,0,0,0,21,fa,0,0,2,0-

Sep 11 02:16:32 warthog /netbsd: si(0:0:0)-28,0,0,0,90,6c,0,0,2,0-
Sep 11 02:16:33 warthog /netbsd: ncr5380_command: short transfer: wanted 10 got
4.
Sep 11 02:16:33 warthog /netbsd: si(0:0:0)-28,0,0,0,90,6c,0,0,2,0-

When I attempt to start up X I get one of these errors and a dump into
the debugger. A trace shows that the kernel fell out of the ncr5380
and straight into the debugger.

Is the harddisk just too fast for the controller? Is the controller
chip sick? Or is this something that I can fix in the kernel source?

My 3/110, which has an Emulex controller board, gets SCSI phase errors
when trying to boot from this drive.

Thanks in advance.
