Which release are you using? The original 1.1 perhaps?
There was a "1.1 patch 1" which fixed problems with that
type of SCSI target (the Emulex SCSI/ESDI bridge). Try:
ftp.netbsd.org:/pub/NetBSD/arch/sun3/install-11-p1
